Considering that 4/5 of the ranks will make Aleiph have to learn to cope with her discomfort around prince riders, I expected whatever she Impressed to be fun to toy with anyway.

...So my main thought on the last several posts consists of "muahahahaha."
Anyway! I'll look through all the candidates and dragons and see what seems better; possibly I'll try a mixed hatching, with some pairs preassigned and some with multiple options; it depends on how the candidates and hatchlings seem to match up. After the hatching I'll let everyone know what I used, and we can discuss if we want to use that strategy (whichever it is) in future hatchings.
In the meantime: is there anyone who doesn't want their candidate (one or all, either way) to have a dragon with a potentially conflicting personality? Not the kind that makes the dragon and rider hate each other, but that kind of fond/exasperated "I don't know why I put up with you." Such as giving a very serious, hardworking candidate who dislikes "frivolity" a dragon that adores everything bright and shiny, or a candidate who likes playing around and goofing off a dragon that thinks anything that isn't productive is silly. These 'off' Impressions, as I think of them, wouldn't be something that makes the pair hate each other; just personalities that aren't perfect matches or obviously exactly complimentary. As a result they do contain the possibility for the dragon and rider not to get along, but the goal would be to provide more interesting interaction (through a pair that do not always agree with each other, with the only exceptions being when one is upset and the other reminds them to be more reasonable and calm).
And, relatedly: who would, or wouldn't, mind a hatchling with traits such as selfishness, looking down on others, or cruelty? Dragons that are not essentially, automatically nice and good and compassionate.

I would like the best match possible, but one of the "off" Impressions would be something that I wouldn't mind. It would be like siblings; a love-dislike relationship.
I personally do not want Maika to have a dragon who is self-obsessed or cruel, but a little bit of meanness would be okay. I'm thinking more like petty meanness, rather than flat-out cruelty, and maybe just a little bit of comparing itself to others to make it feel better? Or, if they end up sometime in the future educating Winglets, a dragon that would push the Hatchlings to their limits in order to help them advance. A "cruel but kind" dragon, maybe...

Conflicting personalities are great! And I have no issue with having my character impress a dragon that isn't automatically nice and good and all that.

Opposite personalities are fun, and I would be up for playing a not-so-nice dragon. I've done it before!

Give my characters anything you like. If you want them to be the meanest, brattiest, cruelest dragon ever? DO IT. (I've... been there before. A dragoness who's kind of just... a bitch, to put it simply. I LOVE her.)
And off impressions? DO IT. I love conflicting personalities- it makes things interesting, when they have to adapt around each other. (Again, been there, love that.)
