Name: Rekima
Age: 18
Sex and Gender: male
Sexual and Romantic Orientations: heterosexual, biromantic
Species: Dhole Tailed (Indian wild dog)
Rank and Craft: candidate, former journeyman tanner
Place of Birth: Feldspar Hold
Current Location: Cat's Paw Weyr
Family: Father: Ralorn, deceased, would be 72
Mother: Malin, 40
Oldest half brother: Alosen, 46
Several other assorted half siblings
Pets: Sol - bronze firelizard, 6 turns
Bell - bronze firelizard, 1 turn
Hair: shoulder length, black; normally loose
Eyes: dark gray
Height and Build: average build, slightly taller than normal.
Appearance: Rekima is very aware of his appearance, though not too concerned with tradition. He prefers to wear dark, rich colors and soft fabrics. He likes the way skirts look, but finds that pants are more practical for him, and so wears skirts only when he has a reason to be dressed up, which mostly means gathers. More often, he will use wire to attach small bells or polished bits of metal to his hair, though he leaves them off for anything formal.
Rekima has large ears, a bit more than half the size of his hands, with a rounded point. The backs are covered in very short, rust-orange fur while the inside are filled with longer, almost whisker-like white fur that makes it hard to see into them. His tail is bushy, falling just past his knees, and while the base is the same rusty orange as his ears, it quickly gets darker, and about two thirds of his tail is black. The tail isn't particularly dexterous, though he can control it. Apart from his tail and ears, Rekima has no fur.
Personality: Rekima is a shameless, constant flirt. He views flirting as something between a game and a way to make people happy, and so will cheerfully flirt with anyone, regardless of their age, gender, appearance, or even whether he likes them. He enjoys making people blush, and even more enjoys when someone can flirt back the same way.
While he doesn't generally go out of his way to seek out beauty, Rekima definitely appreciates it, and particularly appreciates looking nice. However, his definition of 'nice' is not entirely traditional; he favors eye-catching over classic beauty, and prefers something that he considers the most complete image of a concept or situation (which can range from 'Lord' to 'farmer' to 'broken') to a less complete image of something generally thought of as beautiful. As a result, he's perfectly happy to get dirty, as long as he's in a situation where he thinks being dirty is appropriate, though as soon as that situation ends he'll very much want to be clean, and if delayed, may start whining about being dirty.
While Rekima is not very conscious of it, he has retained the superior attitude he picked up from his half siblings, though by now it's translated more into an absolute self confidence than simple superiority. He may admit that he did something wrong, or doesn't know something, but he never doubts that he can fix it or learn whatever he needs to, and he never worries that he may not learn something on time, or that something can't be fixed. Some of this is due to naivete, but some is simply him being unable to consider that he might not be able to make everything he wants to happen work out right. This can be useful, as he doesn't give up on anything, but can also come off as arrogant or childishly oblivious.
History: Rekima was the youngest, and illegitimate, son of the Lord Holder of Garnet Hold, Rekima had a somewhat uncertain position. Everyone knew perfectly well who his father was, but his father had many other sons and daughters, both legitimate and not, and so Rekima never had a chance of inheriting anything. His father did make a point of seeing that he was cared for, and so Rekima spent a lot of time as a child around his older half siblings, and learned from them both some Lord Holder training details and some attitude that he was not, strictly speaking, entitled to. As a result, he would often get himself in minor trouble for being rude, and quickly learned that flattering people was a good way to get out of said trouble.
Rekima's mother was only one of the many kitchen women, and while she did care for Rekima, she still was somewhat distant as he grew up, neither understanding his outgoing personality or approving of his attitude. The other children with mothers of similar station to his similarly thought him arrogant, and while some put up with him, he did not make any close friends, which led him to spend more time with his half siblings.
When Rekima was ten his father died, and his half brother Alosen became the new Lord Holder. Alosen did not pay much attention to Rekima either way, being too busy learning his new duties to pay much attention to a child, and so Rekima began to encounter more difficulties from the unconscious superior attitude he'd picked up from his siblings. As a result, he become more and more inclined to flatter everyone he met, pre-emptively heaping praise upon anyone he met, and especially anyone who could punish him. Most people saw through this in seconds, but some were amused enough to let it go, so he continued flattering everyone until he forgot why he did it.
By the time Rekima was eleven Alosen had begun to adjust to his duties, and began to figure out what to do with his remaining siblings and half siblings. Rekima was one of those siblings with no clear future, and Alosen talked to Rekima long enough to determine that Rekima had no obvious interests (apart from charming everyone he met), and eventually sent him to become an apprentice tanner.
Rekima was not overly fond of tanning, but he did appreciate the resulting leathers, and so put a moderate amount of effort into learning. He also continued doing his best to flatter everyone he met, if more subtly, as he'd decided he enjoyed making people happy. Rekima became a journeyman tanner at seventeen, and stayed at the crafthall, continuing to assist and learn from the masters. He had, by this point, made friends in the crafthall, as well as a reputation as a constant, shameless flirt, which was well deserved. As a result, the women in and around the hall refused to take his flirtations seriously, assuming that if they gave in he'd never stay, so he did not have very strong ties to the hall when a search wing found him and suggested that he become a candidate.
Candidacy Opinions: It wasn't something he wanted, as he never really thought about it, but now that it's happened he's excited.
Candidate's Preferred Color: He doesn't specifically want any dragon, but nonetheless assumes he will get a prince or at least a brown, simply because he's never gotten over his subconscious assumption of always being special somehow. If he doesn't, he won't be overly upset, but will be distinctly confused for a while.
