A map will be posted as soon as I figure out the scanner. In the meantime, if you need information from the map, ask me and I'll look it up for you. Also, please note that neither holds nor weyrs in Cat's Paw's Pern correspond to the locations of holds or weyrs in canon Pern.
Cat's Paw Weyr is the farthest Eastern Weyr, and as a result has a bit of a habit of waking up the other weyrs with messages that are only mildly important. The weyr is located a third of the way down the Eastern peninsula, about a twenty minute flight from either coast. Cat's Paw guards Sapphire, Garnet and Feldspar Holds.
Sapphire Hold is the Southernmost of the holds that looks to Sapphire Weyr, and one of the most Southern Holds in Pern, with a distinctly tropical climate. They are primarily a fishing hold, supplemented by raising wherries in the surrounding marshes.
Garnet Hold is almost as far North of Cat's Paw Weyr as Sapphire Hold is South, and it shows. They have a temperate climate, and are known primarily for farming and raising animals, though they are on the coast and do some fishing as well.
The Northernmost and Easternmost of Cat's Paw's Holds, Feldspar Hold is also in a temperate, though relatively dry, climate, despite being on the coast. They are a fishing Hold, though they are known primarily for their secondary product of spices.
Fox Tail Weyr is the second most Eastern Hold, and the Northernmost. They guard one of the two largest territories, containing Diamond Hold, Amber Hold, and Spinel Hold, but their territory is far enough North that about half of it can be safely ignored during winter, as all the thread freezes before it reaches the ground.
Amber Hold is the nearest to Fox Tail Weyr, and Southeast of the Weyr. It produces a lot of metal, which is floated down the nearby river to the coast near Garnet Hold.
Diamond Hold is one of the two Northernmost Holds, and on the coast. They are split between mining metal (primarily copper) and fishing.
Spinel Hold sits at the point of a huge inlet--large enough, in fact, to nearly be called a sea. They do some fishing, but primarily produce lumber and wood products.
Snake Fang Weyr guards Emerald Hold and Peridot Hold, on either side of the inlet that leads to Spinel Hold, and the island Pearl Hold. Due to the amount of water around they have one of the smaller territories, but none of it is safe even during winter, and with the fertile, tropical climates they have to be extremely careful of letting any Thread through.
Pearl Hold rests on the Southeastern end of an island. They mainly support themselves by fishing, but are known for tropical fruits that grow year-round on the island.
Peridot Hold is one of the few Holds that is not on a coast, or even a significant lake or river; instead, they are in the middle of rolling plains, cut through with small rivers. The land is used for farming, both crops and animals.
Emerald Hold is another coastal hold, though on the much smaller inlet instead of the open ocean. They do some fishing, but are mostly a mix of mining stone and metal.
Wolf Howl Weyr is the only Weyr to guard four Holds: Ruby Hold, Calced Hold, Zircon Hold, and Jade Hold. They watch roughly the same amount of territory as Fox Tail Weyr, which they are adjacent to, and are about as far North; as a result, a large amount of their territory is frozen safe in winter. However, what remains is densely populated, and must be guarded carefully.
Ruby Hold is the Northernmost Hold, sitting at the edge of a lake. They fish in the lake, and have perfected the art of ice fishing; in three generation, no one has fallen through the ice, even though a large portion of the Hold's population goes out to ice fish every day that the ice is thick enough. Still, this is one of the less wealthy Holds; not poor, but not with enough to spare to be truly extravagant, except when celebrating the arrival of spring.
Calced Hold is set into the cliffs above a river, just before it merges with another. They farm in summer, when it's warm enough, but mostly mine gemstones, and import precious metals in order to make jewelry.
Jade Hold is the sole coastal Hold of Wolf Howl Weyr's territory, and set between the mouths of two rivers. They have a temperate climate, if a slightly cool one. It is also very, very damp; it's rare for Jade Hold not to be rained on at least three days a week.
Zircon Weyr sits at the meeting point of three rivers which come from three lakes, two of which frame Wolf Howl Weyr. They aren't quite as far North as Calced and Ruby Hold, but the climate is still notably cool,
Bear's Claw Weyr guards Opal, Lazuli, and Tourmal Holds. Their territory is fairly small, though densely populated.
Opal Hold is quite far North, at the edge of one lake and about an hour's ride from another one.
Lazuli Hold is on the edge of a small inlet, West and slightly North of Jade Hold, and nearly as damp.
Tourmal Hold is inland, near the head of a river, and in the midst of mountains. They have a temperate climate, though it's a bit cooled by the elevation, and fairly dry.
Hawk Wing Weyr is the Southernmost Weyr, guarding Topaz, Agate, and Beryl Holds.
Topaz Hold is the Southernmost Hold, and in fact the Southernmost habited land on Pern. They are surrounded by rainforest which extends up to Hawk Wing Weyr, and at the tip of a peninsula.
Agate Hold is North and West of Hawk Wing Weyr, not quite as warm as the Weyr or Topaz Hold, though still inside the tropics and on a very damp coast.
Beryl Hold is The Northernmost of Hawk Wing Weyr's Holds, and on a different peninsula entirely. They are still coastal and damp, though temperate rather than tropical.
Lion's Roar Weyr guards Mossan, Citrine, and Lapis Holds, and sits inland, by the side of a winding river.
Mossan Hold is coastal, and (barely beating Beryl Hold) the Westernmost Hold on Pern. The climate is temperate, if cool.
Citrine Hold is the Northernmost Hold in Lion's Roar Weyr's territory. They sit by the edge of a lake and, while they have not perfected ice fishing, they certainly make use of it. Half to three quarters of their land is frozen safe from Thread during the winter.
Lapis Hold is in the Southeast corner of Lion's Roar Weyr's territory, and located at the corner of a lake and the river that runs out of it. The main Hold is away from the coast, but only by a few days' trip by boat, and so they get a decent amount of fish as tribute from the holds that look to them.
