So, we will need plots. I have several ideas in mind, many of which are hinted at somewhere or other, and at least one of which has already been spotted. I also plan to work with whatever plots come up in writing--if your characters start a plot that can expand beyond them, and people are interested, I'll be happy to continue it.
However, that's probably not going to be 100% of the plots we need, and there are a lot of typical plots on Pern sites, mostly involving dragons (mutations, colors or albino/melanistic/fertile greens/physical mutations/etc, princes Impressing women and queens Impressing men, browns catching queens, etc.). There are also a few less typical plots that I have in mind to start if they're needed, which I may or may not bring up later in this thread.
In the meantime, what plots are you interested in? Any, all, or none of those typical ones? Others I've missed? Entirely separate, untypical plots? Are there any plots you very much don't want to see? Would you prefer that I mention plots I'm considering in advance to discuss them better, or would you prefer that they be a surprise?

Honestly, I'm a bit of a sucker for the typical plots, particularly dragons Impressing to people they wouldn't usually Impress to as well as dragons hatching out the wrong gender, though I agree that they are rather over-used on occasion and that something a little more original would be nice to see, if not essential. I think some kind of strife might be fun, maybe a faction of tailed start thinking themselves superior to the Tailless and start spreading distrust, or vice versa.
As for knowing about plots in advance, I'd generally prefer to have a rough idea of what's going on, just so that I can make characters that fit with that, but the details can still be a surprise :3

Honestly I don't really care about what types of plots we have, I can usually roll with anything and as I'm sitting here I'm thinking of a plot that involves Eirlys and her past but I'm not sure how site wide it could be unless.... I'd like to have a general idea of what's going on as well, although not everything could be interesting.

Traditional plots are always good, and I am very fond of untraditional gendered impressions. I don't know that a fertile green would be that useful here, since there are multiple egg layers, but it could be fun.
I also like nontraditional dragons catching queens too.
As for other plots, I'll have to think about it, but I do like Coal's idea of a faction strife. That sounds like it'd be a fun bit of drama.
I don't want to know everything about plots but hints about them would be useful. If just so we know how our characters can help move them along.

Alright, so--who would like me to list what plots I'm thinking of (probably just in two to four word name format, not in any particular detail for most of them), so everyone can decide with a bit more knowledge what you'd like to see happen, and what first?

Sounds good to me. ^^ Maybe there could be a board where people can post personal plot ideas that require more people but not like general interactions between people if that made sense? *Is thinking about Eirlys's plot idea*

There's a plotting board immediately above this one. Though since this seems to be the current plot discussion, feel free to just bring it up here for now, and you can start a thread there if you think it'll be useful.
As for the traditional plots, I was thinking about most of them: opposite sex dragons (male green female blue, etc.), cross-impression (male queenriders, female princeriders), brown-level dragons catching queens (and whatever drama results from that would probably depend largely on how people play their characters). I was thinking about dragon mutations along the lines of fertile non-queen females, albinism, melanism, weird sizes, possibly some less pretty mutations (extra or missing limbs, maybe missing scales), but I'm not sure what we'd really so with additional color dragons, since we've prettymuch got the rainbow already. I'm sure I could think of something--tan, gray, teal, violet, etc--but I'm not sure what the point would be, especially if we already add opposite sex mutations.
For less traditional plots, I hinted somewhere in world background that there are rumors of some of the Holdless trying to start their own hold; that could just be on the Northern continent, or could end up relating to the Southern Continent. If not, then the Southern Continent can be a plot itself.
Even more separate, and not hinted at; if I remember correctly, there's some hidden hints in the Talents series that Anne McCaffrey wrote that it takes place in the same universe as Pern. Combined with Lessa's abilities in Dragonflight, this creates an opening for humans (and Tailed) in Pern to develop psychic powers that may not match the dragons, but would come pretty close: teleportation, telekinesis, mind reading, influencing others' thoughts, empathy. (Really, other than teleporting not involving Between, the Talent psychics aren't far behind the Pern dragons at all.) This would open up a lot of opportunity for plots, but it would also be a pretty dramatic change in the world and how it works, and I'm not totally sure how I'd introduce it or what the results would be. So this is the plot that I particularly want other peoples' opinions on; I don't want to add that drastic a change without checking with people first.

I'll give Maika to a new color of Queen, if you need her for that.
Now, what one of my other sites is doing is something along the lines of a group of strangers in the jungle, and some important people going missing/getting murdered.
I've always been a bit of a sucker for a murder mistery, I'll admit that now.
I don't really like the idea of the people having Draconic abilities, honestly. I mean, in certain cases, like *pulls from a reference book* a Toph case. *used Last Airbender reference* Blind but able to see with the ground. Or unable to speak and a telepath. That makes sense to me.

I'm... not entirely sure what you mean by that, Summer, but I can say that there won't be any Toph abilities. Assuming the abilities were based on the Talents series, they'd be purely psychic: telekinesis, teleportation (as a form of telekinesis), telepathy (mind reading/speaking/influencing), and empathy (emotion reading and influencing). No earth or other element manipulation like the Avatar series had.

I mean like how she was able to see even though she was blind. Like, how the Riders can use their dragons' eyes to see something that they can't, or to see farther.

I love the plot ideas, and Summer's idea as well. ^^ I was thinking about having the bandits who attacked Eirlys's caravan come for some reason and then meet her.

Summer: Okay, I'm not really sure what you were saying. Did you like psychic abilities, or elemental manipulation, or anything so long as it's paired with a disability that it has to make up for?
Na: Bandits in the Weyr seems unlikely, but maybe when she's out of the Weyr for some reason, and it could lead into something?

Maybe, it sort of snuck up on me so I haven't really threshed it out. Maybe someone had a change of heart in the years after...*points above*

I don't mind it when it's with the disability, but I don't really like it by itself.

"It" being psychic abilities, elemental abilities, or any abilities?
