Place of Birth: Cat's Paw Weyr
Current Location: Calced Hold, though he SHOULD be at Cat's Paw Weyr.
Family:
Father - Rider S'vyr of Green Eamith - Feline Tailed
Mother - Thalyssa of Green Dreoth - Lemur Tailed
No Known Siblings
Pets:
* Firelizard - Gold - Queen's Bounty
* Firelizard - Bronze - King's Gambit
"After all dis time an' I STILL manage to impress myself."
Hair: Copper-brown, darker at the roots, near-black. Usually left about neck-length, naturally has faint waves in it. Soft to the touch, left loose or brushed behind his ears.
Eyes: Red. Orange-gold, if you must differentiate, and vibrantly colored. No other color accurately describes them. Slightly big, very round, and terrifying to see in the dark, where the light catches them sharply and turns them into reflective orange discs.
Height and Build: Fairly slender, lean, though. Tall, too, easily six feet. A little lanky, with lean muscle. He doesn't look like a fighter, but he can run like nobody's business and his arms, when he's in a mood to show off, are toned and built like someone who's spent some time climbing. He naturally has long limbs, seeming a bit lanky.
Face Claim: Taylor Kitsch
Appearance: Siarryn is pretty. Not escaping that. He inherited his mother's coloring and his father's features- even when he was little his family said he'd be a heartbreaker. He's tall, with bright gold-yellow eyes, dark, wavy brown hair, and a casual smile that has been perfectly tailored to melt hearts and charm people. His skin is slightly tanned, naturally, for he rarely spends time in the sun unless necessary. His expressions are always designed to charm, to evoke reactions from people rather than display his own. When he does drop his guarded attitude, he's very expressive.
He favors long jackets and hats- it's his purpose in life to be able to convince people he's someone he's not, so he frequently hides his tail and ears- a rather interesting feat, if you consider the fact that his tail is easily as long as him and then half. He's fond of fedoras, just because they look good on him. He likes eye-catching colors, too, and looking good- anything he wears will probably have a flattering cut and be clean and look nice.
He tends to walk upright, no slouching, but he also tends to walk on his toes, always be ready to move- he always seems something like a coiled spring, ready to release even when he's relaxed. Always watching people, this one is. Often seen smiling, though, and can present an air of calm and relaxation despite his prevalent sense of energy.
His ears are fairly catlike, slightly rounded at the tips, but with a faint crest of fur that make them seem slightly more triangular. Highly mobile, they're rather large and covered in long, bright white fur. His tail, though is easily his most noticeable feature. Long, incredibly long, longer than the full length of his body and then some, highly flexible, and vaguely prehensile. (No, natural Terran Lemur's tails are not prehensile. But Lemur Tailed's tails are.) He...tends to use it to steal things. The tail is, like most Lemur Tailed's are, banded in black, gray and white, with long, fluffy fur. It's quite soft, but he gets fussy about people touching it. And it IS a dead giveaway for his emotions, despite his best efforts to the contrary- hence why, if he's lying or trying to hide his emotions, he'll generally wrap it tightly around himself to keep it from twitching in any way. (Hats too, to keep eyes off his equally mobile ears.)
He's got slightly elongated canines, and, like the rest of his breed, he's got slight discoloration around his eyes, almost like wearing permanent eyeliner. Odd, but most don't notice it unless they're looking. Lastly, like the rest of his breed, he has improved eyesight in the dark (actually preferring to be nocturnal, but that is his personal preference), slightly improved jumping and running skills, and an ease at climbing that most humans would envy, though this is only partly Tailed traits and a lot more long years of training and effort. (Though the Tailed bit adds a nice little extra kick.)
(He has a slight accent, maybe from his days wandering, tends to slur some words or soften others. Not always noticeable, and he tends to correct himself if he notices he's doing it, but when he's tired or upset, he drops his hard consonants and has what might be reminiscent of a Southern/Creole twang. )
"You know it's a bad sign when I'M the voice of reason..."
Personality:
* Clever- almost annoyingly so. He's really quite smart, he just tends to use that intelligence on amusing himself rather than, say, benefiting the rest of humanity.
* Arrogant- okay, yeah, this one is pretty obvious. He's kind of full of himself, and a little bit convinced of his own immortality. Could be a revelation if he's ever faced with his own shortcomings.
* Charming- he loves people, and more than that, he craves attention. So he's learned how to attract attention. He knows how to set ladies hearts aflutter, and turn a fair share of men's heads with his words, his actions, and his presence- and it goes beyond seduction.
* Guarded- he has his secrets. Maybe they're not life changing, maybe they're not even that big or bad or anything, but what few cards he has to hide he plays close to his heart- it's hard to get to the 'real' Sia sometimes, behind the poker face he puts on.
* Cheater- a little bit lazy plus a lot smart combined to make him inherently qualified in finding an easy way out of a lot of things. If there's a shortcut, he'll take it. Not at the risk of failure, mind you, but he's got no problems with dipping into the moral gray area to get something done. Not that he's inherently bad, either, he's just gotten some bad habits he needs to learn his way out of again.
* Flexible- He knows how to think on his feet, and even if a carefully laid plan goes awry, he'll find a new way to fix his problems.
* Compelling- He makes people want to know him. Or not- he's the type that can (and will) try to sway your opinion about him.
* Resourceful- Self-explanatory. He knows how to make do with what's at hand. While he may like the finer things in life, he's capable of surviving nearly anywhere.
* Vain- yeah. He's pretty full of himself. Not that he's bad looking, but he also has that annoying habit of knowing it.
* Impulsive- doesn't always think before he acts- even when it would be wise to. So far he's been lucky to avoid major problems, but his lucky streak can;t last forever.
* Seductive- Yeah. He likes him some physical attention too. Male, female, doesn't really matter, are you interested in him? He's interested in you.
* Mistrusting- He always expects people to turn on him eventually, so he rarely bothers to trust people from the beginning.
* Tense- He somewhat dislikes confrontation, and will actively avoid discussions of a personal nature (heavy ones anyway) and fights- though if he's cornered, he's not afraid to prove he can and will kick your ass. (Note: He's rather dangerous if given a staff weapon. Odd, but he spent a lot of time fending off bullies with a broom, so what do you expect.)
His hobbies include running- just for the sake of running, climbing trees and getting to impossibly high points of cliffs and rocks just to make people wonder HOW he got there, gambling, cards, cheating at cards, running from people he's cheated at cards, and bad poetry. (No, really.) Yes, okay, so he's not perfect, in fact, he can be rather annoying, but he's generally a likable guy. He's not always easy to get along with, and even his closest friends might be surprised to realize he doesn't trust them completely, but when it really comes down to the few people he lets past his walls entirely, there isn't anything he wouldn't do for them.
He's afraid of people hurting him, and more afraid of losing the few things he cares about. Also, floods. He can swim just fine, he's just deeply afraid of floods for some reason. Rivers don't bother him, it's very specifically the act of rising water where water should not be. (He makes a point of this.)
His goals in life? Even he doesn't know, but for the most part it seems to be 'To have a good time.' He claims to have lofty goals (which change every time someone asks him about them) but seems to have too much of a lazy streak to really work for them, preferring an easy out or a risky gamble that may or may not pay off.
Likes: Card games, cheating at card games, entertaining himself, looking good, running, heat, night time, attention, and profit.
Dislikes: Floods, losing, getting caught at cheating, confrontation, people touching his tail, being tied down, boredom and rules.
Roth
#FFDDEE
Male, Breath, no mutation
Cautious, intelligent, very nearly obsessed with duty and proper behavior, does not care about and looks down on anyone that he perceives as neglecting their duty
Average size; will be about 15 feet when grown
"You, who would so shamelessly shirk that which is Right and Proper? No, I shall not stand for that!"
Name: Roth
Age: Weyrling
Color: Breath
Place of Birth: Cat's Paw Weyr
Current Location: Cat's Paw Weyr
Appearance: Roth is a very handsome dragon. S'ryn will be the first to tell you this. Of average size, he still carries himself like a Prince rank, moving quite deliberately; he may not always move with haste, but he gets where he's going. He does in fact have rather long limbs, and is quite graceful. His tail is long and often held out behind him for balance- because he's a smaller dragon (in comparison to some) he often has a habit of perching on his hindlegs to get a better look around him.
His hide is pale white, tinted very slightly with lavender-blue, and a smattering of reflective, opalescent-like markings adorn his hide along his wings, shoulders and tail, and some more along his head and cheeks. He has broad, strong wings, and a stiff, consistently regal (S'ryn says 'uptight') posture. He frequently appears to be looking down his nose at others, and is, in fact, judging you.
Personality: Well... duty-bound. That's a nice way of saying uptight, right? Roth insists he's bound by a strict code of morals and duty, while S'ryn seems to insist he's uptight and a fun-sucker. (They argue frequently over the use of that term.) Roth likes to know how things go- he knows the difference between right and wrong, and between what people SHOULD do and what SHOULD be done. He sees things as people's 'Duty' or 'Proper' behavior. He likes rules- might even be a little obsessed over them. Roth is also very cautious, not a risk-taker, and a bit of an obsessive planner when it comes to doing things. He always looks before he leaps, as opposed to his rider...
Still, if you can, as S'ryn puts it, remove the dragon-sized stick from his ass, Roth is also incredibly intelligent, and capable of keeping up arguments with his rider on even the most articulate of days. In fact, S'ryn is usually the one to have to revert to childish name-calling...yes, they argue a lot. Massively butt heads and all that...but they love each other. (You just have to dig through a LOT of snark.)
Voice Hex Code: FFDDEE
"My rider may be carefree and reckless, but I see the danger in the world. We cannot go on ignoring out Duty forever... we are, eventually, all called to our purpose."
"You wanna play wit' me, dear? Go 'head, pick a card."
History: Sia might have one of the weirder parentages you might have heard of. Or not- but it's certainly rather atypical. Both his parents are dragonriders- and not your typical blue-green type set of weyrmates, or even something like a product of a flight- no. Both his parents are greenriders, and...well. He was an accident. There was drinking, there was being very drunk, there was the sex thing, and Thalyssa got pregnant. Oddly, both parents decided to keep the child. (Or not so oddly, but given that both were active-duty dragonriders, the choice surprised some.)
Flash forward a few years, and his parents, though hardly in love and not at all weyrmated, had been raising him as best they could. Of course, he spent much of his time in the weyr creche, but he knew his parents, knew their dragons, and he knew, once he was old enough to understand, why they couldn't be around all the time. The little boy never minded, he had a happy life. He eventually ended up at Cat's Paw Weyr where his father was assigned, if only because he tended to take more after his father. They thought maybe he'd be a Harper, or a crafter or something, but he seemed most interested in... well. Defying all expectations and forging his own path. When he was supposed to be testing to be a Harper, he snuck off instead. When he was supposed to be learning the methods of gemcrafting, he got bored, stole the gems he was to work with, pawned them, and traveled with a Trader caravan for six weeks before his father finally caught up with him OR anyone realized what he'd done. He'd been thirteen at the time.
Clearly he was adverse to sticking to a normal life. If he wanted to be a trader, why not let him? S'vyr (reluctantly, though he'd never admit as much) let his son do as he wished, and Sia spent a while learning how to trade, to sell, to be a businessman. And then he got bored of that, too, and took to sneaking away and conning people into slightly crooked card games. When he got caught at THAT he just grinned and got the crap beat out of him by his dad. And then his father told him not to get caught the next time.
He was not raised with the best role models. S'vyr managed to impress on him the importance of not hurting people, of sticking up for those weaker than yourself, and to not ever do something if he couldn't face punishment for it later. So...crooked morals, but morals were there. He never hurt anyone, and if he occasionally conned a few rich holder out of more of their money than they thought (and even picked a few pockets) he never took from someone who couldn't afford it. At least, he'll say so. Don't ask the people he's robbed. (Ahem- out-smarted.) The only major crime he committed was on a dare- he was young, and foolish, and too easily influenced by some of the bigger kids in the Trader caravan, and one day, they goaded him into sneaking into a Lord Holder's estate and robbing the man's heat box of three firelizard eggs. He sold one, but felt so guilty afterward he intended to return the other eggs- too bad they hatched before he could manage that. (He should have known.) And quite a haul, too! A gold and a bronze, which impressed to the young boy. He was kind of stuck then- to this day he hasn't owned up to the actual way he obtained the eggs- he claims he got lucky and found a wild clutch. Still, as immediately after the Lord Holder was looking for his missing eggs- or anyone with young firelizards- Siarryn booked it. He just up and left the Traders he was traveling with, hitched a ride with a runner cart, and stopped even pretending he was doing anything purposeful with his life and just went to live the way HE wanted.
He became... something of a thief. Since he's devoted his life to amounting to absolutely nothing and doing it with style, he doesn't always have a known location or a reliable alias. Heck, he's a drifter, for all intents and purposes. He steals, he bums, he just kind of does what makes him happy and lets it take him where he will. He's smart, he's cocky, so he has never let thread scare him, and he's careful enough to never get caught in the open during a fall. He makes his marks by playing cards or betting at any close Gathers, or he does odd jobs that entertain his fancy until he gets bored again.
That WAS the plan anyway. A rather chance encounter with his father (who did in fact check up on him from time to time, even if he publicly claimed no fault for the havoc his child sometimes caused, or the fact that his son was a wanted thief in three holds) had them both reeling- his father's green informed them both he should be a candidate. Siarryn decided no thank you and tried to run. He lasted all of a week on the lam before he was sold out by Bounty and Gambit and his father dragged him out of the hold he'd been hiding in by his tail- literally.
Then he was, again quite literally, tied to a dragon, forcibly flown to Cat's Paw Weyr, and informed he'd be a candidate. There was arguing. Another beating- despite being shorter than Sia, his father could kick his ass- and Siarryn eventually agreed to try it. (He was not given a choice, but he likes to pretend otherwise.) His father calls him 'The Reluctant Candidate.' Most other people call him a flight risk. So far he's been behaving, even if he HAS been sneaking out to the nearby holds to stir up trouble and amuse himself... can't get a good poker game going in the Weyr he claims.
So now he's... doing what he's always done. Stirring up trouble, and being violently allergic to rules, social norms, and behaving like a 'good boy.' He much prefers being the bad boy, thanks. Even if it is going to get him into some mighty big trouble one of these days...
Candidacy Opinions: He wasn't expecting it. His father is a Searchrider, but never said anything to him until he was quite older than the typical search age, so it came as a surprise. (For all involved.) Now he's grudgingly come to accept it (read: has been browbeaten into it by his father and his father's dragon) and is kind of looking forward to it. And kind of sneaking off any chance he can get to gamble.
Candidate's Preferred Color: He's not sure. His parent's are both greenriders, so he actually has a deep amount of respect towards those so-called 'lower' colors, though he'd also think it pretty hilarious if he impressed a Prince-rank. (He also has a preference for the nightlife, so he might have an internal bias toward the nocturnal dragons.) Basically, he's a little stunned anyone finds him candidate-worthy.
Your Preferred Color: I can't even comment on the Second and Third set dragons, so I'll go old school canon. (And go by rank as opposed to color.) I could see him with anything, really. It depends on dragon personality, not color. I have no preference.
